Artist's Description
Fifty Foot Falls is one of a number of waterfalls along Havasu Creek in the Havasupai Indian Reservation of Northern Arizona. Havasu is famous for it's striking turquoise blue waterfalls, which derive their color from a high concentration of dissolved minerals in the spring water that feeds the creek. That same dissolved mineral content creates beautiful travertine (limestone) rock formations like that seen here. Access to this area, deep in the Grand Canyon and 8 miles from the nearest road, is strictly controlled and only by foot, horse, or helicopter.
