The photograph features a foreground of snow covered grasses in Cook Meadow with serendipitous clouds mirroring the patterns in the grasses. A perfect reflection of Half Dome catching the last light of sunset is framed between the snow covered grasses. A lot of elements came together at the very last minute to make this photograph possible, and Schwabel knew the minute he happened upon this scene in the rush to find a location for sunset that this was the shot.
