Surrounded by a spectacular landscape of jagged glaciated mountains, thousands of king penguins gather on the beach at Salisbury Plain on the remote sub-Antarctic island of South Georgia. The nearly 11-month old fluffy brown chicks, still unable to swim on their own, await the return of their parents with food. Some of the densest concentrations of wildlife in the world are found on the beaches here.
